Dana White Says He Hasn’t Spoken To Jon Jones On Heavyweight Move

UFC President Dana White claims he hasn’t spoken to former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones about a move up to heavyweight.

Jones had the MMA world buzzing when he vacated the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. “Bones” had ruled the roost at 205 pounds for years but he decided to relinquish the gold in favor of moving up to the light heavyweight division. The only problem is, the UFC is unsure what the status of Jones’ move up in weight is.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, White said he doesn’t know if Jones is on track to make the move to heavyweight (h/t BJPenn.com).

“No, none. No talks with Jon Jones,” White said. “I don’t know if he’s getting ready. I don’t know what Jon Jones is doing. When he’s ready, all he’s gotta do is let us know. We have no inclination whatsoever that this guy’s coming to fight.”

Jones last competed back in February. He successfully defended the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Dominick Reyes. “Bones” won the fight via unanimous decision. Jones had been teasing a heavyweight fight against Francis Ngannou but he got into a verbal spat with White and threatened to sit on the sidelines until some changes were made.
