Dana White Says Plans Are In The Works For The Next UFC BMF Title Bout

The interest surrounding the UFC’s BMF title has grown vastly since its origins in 2019, and it seems that Dana White is planning to keep the momentum going.

The first BMF title was awarded to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, for his 3rd round stoppage of Nate Diaz. Once Masvidal stepped away from the UFC, Justin Gaethje captured the belt following his electrifying finish of Dustin Poirier in July 2023.

During this past weekend’s UFC 302 post fight press conference, Dana White revealed to the media that plans surrounding the next BMF title match are in the works.

“We’re working on the BMF title right now. No, it doesn’t rub me [the wrong way] at all, I love that people love that belt and want to fight for it – I love it.” White said in response to a question regarding Ilia Topuria calling for BMF title match.

“Yeah, we’re working on a lot of stuff right now, obviously we’ve got The Sphere coming up, we’ve got Madison Square Garden, we got a lot of big fights coming up around that time, we’ll get it figured out.”

In the most recent BMF match, at UFC 300, Gaethje made his first attempt at defending the title, but fell short when he found himself in a 5th round fire fight with Max Holloway, which ultimately led to an absolute jaw dropping knockout.

While we know the next bout will obviously feature Holloway, the big question mark is who his opponent may be. Given Topuria’s most fight, a recent 2nd round knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski, most feel he may be the most deserving.
