Dana White Shows Off Newly Upgraded Meta Apex
UFC CEO, Dana White, is showing off the recent upgrades the company has added to its purpose-built studio facility, now called Meta APEX, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The promotion held its first event in six weeks at the APEX, after the facility underwent refurbishment. The changes include increased seating capacity (1,200), new stands, and other gathering areas. At the UFC Fight Night event on August 8, Quillan Salkilld submitted Mateusz Gamrot by first-round rear-naked choke in the headline bout.
Speaking after the show, White said the coronavirus pandemic and the shuttering of live sports and entertainment changed the way in which the UFC looked at its business.
“Now, here we are,” he said. “The arenas in Las Vegas, you have the T-Mobile Arena. Allegiant Stadium. The MGM Grand. There’s a new arena in town. We can host anything from fights, comedy, to conventions.”
The UFC’s next event is UFC 330, Islam Makhachev vs Ian Machado Garry on August 15. After six other events, it returns to the Apex on September 26 for another Fight Night-branded show.
Dana White’s Contender Series, a promotion that funnels talent into the UFC through contracts for regional fighters, returns on August 25 and continues through fall. Tickets starting at $25 can be purchased for the first time.
