Dana White Slams Bob Arum Over Terence Crawford Comments
UFC President Dana White has some choice words for Top Rank Boxing’s Bob Arum.
White and Arum have never been chummy. It all dates back to the UFC’s rise in popularity. Back in 2009, Arum said that MMA fighters were “skinhead white guys” who were more like bar fighters. While Arum gives credit to the UFC for bringing MMA to the mainstream, he still doesn’t like the combat sport.
The bad blood remains the same in 2020. Surprisingly, a new rant from White was sparked by comments that weren’t directed at the UFC or MMA. Recently, Arum told The Athletic that he’s lost money on Crawford for three straight bouts. Arum went as far as to say he could’ve bought a house with that money and that he isn’t about to go bankrupt for “Bud.”
Speaking to reporters following an edition of his Contender Series, White blasted Arum (h/t MMAJunkie.com).
“Can you imagine if I said that? Are you (expletive) kidding me? You guys would murder me if I said that. I’d never hear the end of that. That’s what you do. That’s not (Crawford’s) (expletive) problem, that’s your problem.
“His problem isn’t to figure out how you make money. You (expletive) signed a deal with this kid, at how many people we have on the roster, our roster is very inflated right now. We have a very big roster, the biggest roster we’ve ever had in the history of the company. I have to pay all these kids. How I pay them is not their (expletive) problem. It’s my (expletive) problem.“
White went on to insult Arum, something he has done in the past.
“Imagine me saying ‘oh, I gotta pay Conor McGregor this much money, I could have built a house in Beverly Hills.’ Shut the (expletive) up, you (expletive) scumbag. Pay your (expletive) fighter what you owe him, do you job. Bob Arum is a piece of (expletive) (expletive).”
