Dana White Talks Up UFC 287 Event As Jorge Masvidal And Kevin Holland Verbally Spar
According to Dana White, the gate revenue generated by the upcoming UFC 287 event centered around the much-awaited rematch between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya will break records.
There are plenty of reasons for optimism if Dana’s words are anything to go by. The headline fight has plenty at stake as Adesanya desperately attempts to secure his first victory over Pereira, having lost on two occasions in kickboxing and then the UFC.
So much so that Adesanya went on to refer to it as his ‘Eminem moment,’ citing the ‘8 Mile’ movie as his mantra.
Meanwhile, the UFC 287 event is also the first following the announcement of its merger with WWE. And the card will include a fight between Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns.
Both have previously competed for a title, knowing that the victor may position themselves for a potential shot at a championship. But it was not just the fight that generated a lot of talking points.
It transpired that Masvidal and Kevin Holland had engaged in a heated argument at the hotel where they were staying, and security had to intervene to prevent the situation from escalating.
And the bad blood was still evident during the pre-fight presser.
“There’s nothing to talk about there. He’s just a d*ck-riding, clout-chasing b***h. Ain’t nothing to talk about,” Masvidal
“No, that’s not what you were saying yesterday, bro. Watch your f***ing mouth,” Holland
In response, White efficiently ended a journalist’s inquiries and ensured that the pre-fight press conference for UFC 287 proceeded without delay.
“Come on, these two aren’t even fighting. Knock it off. Do you have a question about these guys and who they’re fighting, or do you just want to start sh*t in here? What’s your question,” White.
With that being said, you check out the main card at ET/7 pm PT on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
