Dana White’s History Making Time Magazine Cover

With just under three weeks to go before UFC’s historic White House event, the promotion’s President & CEO, Dana White, has become the first combat sports promoter to ever be featured on the cover of Time Magazine.

Time’s cover choice makes sense considering Dana White is heading up what President Trump called the biggest event to ever take place at the White House, while also expressing that the unprecedented event will be “The Greatest Show On Earth”.

The  in-depth feature article tells the story of “The Promoter: How Dana White Took the UFC From the Fringes to the White House”, and includes White’s history with the UFC, his relationship with Donald Trump and how the White House show came together.

One major revelation that came out of  the piece is that White revealed he wanted to book a women’s title fight between strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern and Weili Zhang for the White House card, as he felt that the bout would have boosted the international audience, but White said “they couldn’t get it done.”

The UFC White House show, which takes place on June 14, will be headlined by Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje with Alex Pereira vs.Ciryl Gane for the interim-heavyweight belt in the co-feature. Due to the event being simulcast on CBS, Dana White expects it to be the most watched UFC event in history.
