Dana White’s Take On The Rock’s Upcoming Portrayal Of UFC’s Mark Kerr – “He Will Nail This Role”

With the production of “The Smashing Machine” currently in progress, Dana White has given his positive thoughts on “The Rock” portraying UFC legend Mark Kerr in the film.

WWE star Dwayne Johnson has had no issue breaking into the mainstream over the past 15 years, but many are viewing his opportunity to portray one of the early UFC pioneers as one of his best yet.

Despite many successful on-screen appearances, not to mention the highly popular HBO series ‘Ballers’, but he has yet to receive an award for his acting prowess. Dana White feels that this could be his time to shine, and expects Johnson to at least be in the Oscar conversation.

“I don’t know if you saw it, but he was showing on his Instagram the other day that he messed up his elbow.” Dana White told Collider, discussing Dwayne Johnson’s role as Mark Kerr in an upcoming film. “‘The Rock’ will kill this. He will nail this role. I know how serious he’s taking this, I know who’s working with him, and I know how hard he’s working on this film. I think that this could be the opportunity for ‘The Rock’ to actually be nominated for an Oscar.”

The film is set to release in December 2024, and The Rock is far from the only name in the combat sports world that is involved. It has been announced that heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk will play the role of Kerr’s one time opponent in Igor Vovchanchyn. Furthermore, former Bellator champion Ryan Bader will play the role of another UFC pioneer, and fan favorite, Mark Coleman.
