Daniel Cormier Rips Aspinall’s Opponents During Leaked Conversation

Daniel Cormier unintentionally revealed his thoughts on the UFC heavyweight division during a private chat with champion Tom Aspinall, as the conversation was secretly recorded and shared.

The accidental leak occurred in the run-up to Aspinall’s first title defense at UFC 321 against Ciryl Gane this weekend. Aspinall became the champion after Jon Jones vacated in June, as the pressure is on Tom to win and stake a potential fight on the UFC White House card next June that could be against Jones. Cormier pulled Aspinall aside for a confidential conversation, unaware that Aspinall’s camera crew was still rolling. The clip shows Cormier telling Aspinall just how weak he believes the division is right now, suggesting that he could go on an unprecedented winning streak.

“These matchups in this division, like, do you know what type of f—*ing run you can go on? It would be crazy. You can change your life. Because I mean, what is it? Jailton Almeida is fighting [Volkov]. Jailton can’t fight. [Even if Volkov wins], you beat him in the first round. It could get f—*ing crazy. You’re on the verge of some crazy s—, man, Things like that don’t come around often. It’s like when I got to fight Volkan [Oezdemir]. “I defended the belt against Volkan Oezdemir one time, man. Did I win the lottery, son?,” Cormier said
