Danny Garcia Promises To Knockout Keith Thurman In Rematch, Father Says

Angel Garcia is confident that his son will get Keith Thurman the second time around.

Danny Garcia is back to the winning column thanks to a majority decision win against Jose Benevidez Jr on July 30. It was Garcia’s first fight since December 2020 where he lost to unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr by unanimous decision.

And, for Garcia’s next opponent, his father, Angel, said they want Keith Thurman.

“I’ll take Thurman,” Angel told Fight Hype. “Cause he was the one who gave Danny his first L.”

Garcia was riding a 33-fight winning streak before encountering Thurman on March 4, 2017. Thurman was also undefeated at this time in all of his 27 fights.

Both boxers were regarded as the welterweight division’s top contenders. Then when their paths finally crossed, Garcia experienced his first pro loss as Thurman managed to pull out with a close split decision victory.

It wasn’t until 2019 that Thurman experienced his first loss to Manny Pacquiao.

Fast forward to 2022, Garcia said after his win that he would want either a rematch with Thurman or a shot at Erislandy Lara at 155 pounds.

Thurman had previously expressed he is open to a second bout with Garcia.

“We’ll knock Thurman out this time. Thurman never was the same after Danny,” Angel added.
