Danny Garcia Ready To Fight Spence, Pacquiao

The resume of Danny Garcia is impressive. With wins over Paulie Malignaggi, Samuel Vargas, Lamont Peterson, Zab Judah and Amir Khan, Garcia (36-2) has proven to be a dangerous fighter in the welterweight division. However, with losses against Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter, “Swift” might have to work on a few things to get back into contention.

Speaking on Instagram Live, Garcia ended up stating he is preparing for a return in the next few months. He is anticipating fights with WBA Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao or IBF and WBC Welterweight Champion Errol Spence Jr.

“I’m coming back in September. I’ll be back in the ring in September,” Garcia stated, via The Independent. “The next fight will be in the fall. I’m fighting in the fall. We don’t know yet. It’s either Pacman or Spence. We’re ready for whatever, bro.”

Garcia is 3-2 in his last five fights. Following the loss to Porter for the WBC Welterweight Title, he beat Adrian Granados via TKO in April 2019. He then beat Ivan Redkach via unanimous decision back in January. Hoping for one more crack at gold within the division, Garcia is looking to move up to 154 after.

Following a controversial loss to Jeff Horn in which he lost the WBC Welterweight Title, Pacquiao has won three in a row. He beat Lucas Matthysse for the WBA Welterweight Title and ended Thurman’s undefeated streak to win the WBA Super Welterweight Title. At over 40 years old, it is unsure what is next for Pacquiao.

Spence beat Kell Brook back in 2017 to win the IBF Title. He won the WBC Welterweight Title from Shawn Porter in a Fight of the Year contender in September. The 30-year-old is currently healing from a car accident he was in back in October. Charged with a DUI, Spence wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He suffered cuts to his face and damage to his teeth.

The losses over Thurman and Porter may not end up in Garcia’s favor when it comes to matches he wants. Garcia is willing to fight, however, to get back to the top of the mountain.

“Listen, they won the battle, but we won the war,” Garcia went on to say. “We’re in this long term.”
