Danny Garcia Wants Pacquiao-Broner Winner
Former WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia is looking very closely at who walks out of January’s Adrien Broner and Manny Pacquiao welterweight showdown on January 19th at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“I want a rematch with either Porter or Thurman,” said Garcia, who lost his most recent fight to Shawn Porter by unanimous decision for the vacant WBC welterweight title September 8.
“I feel like I wanna redeem myself with those. I feel like it’s something I need to do before my career is over. But the winner out of Pacquiao and Broner, I think that would be a great fight for me, too. I think that’s actually – name-wise, Broner and Pacquiao have big names, and I have a big name, so I think that would be a great, promotional pay-per-view fight. Either or, whoever wins.”
Garcia figures that Pacquiao-Broner can go either way.
“I think it’s a 50-50 fight,” Garcia said. “
You know, Pacquiao is a little older now, but he just throws more punches than Adrien. And I think that’s the key. I think Adrien has to keep up with his pace a little bit. But if Adrien can do that, I think he can win the fight. But if he lets Pacquiao out-work him, then I think Pacquiao’s gonna win.”
