David Benavidez And Caleb Plant’s Press Conference-Here’s What Happened
Both men know victory could get them a bout with Canelo Alvarez
On Thursday, 2nd February 2023, David Benavidez and Caleb Plant had their press conference to talk about their upcoming fight on March 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Benavidez, who has yet to be defeated in his professional boxing career and is a two-time WBC super middleweight champion, will square off against Plant, the former IBF champion, with both fighters looking to meet Canelo Alvarez for all four titles.
Having already lost to Alvarez, Plant has a chance to redeem himself should he come out unscathed against Benevadez. Meanwhile, the latter knows that victory over Plant will put pressure on Canelo to give the fans a Mexican blockbuster.
And in doing so, test Canelo’s previous assertions: “When I say I don’t want to fight Mexicans, it’s because I represent Mexico – and that’s why. But I don’t care. I’ll fight anybody. My entire life, anybody. What do you think? I don’t want to fight with one Mexican or Benavidez.”
Press Conference
In a highly-charged and expletive-ridden presser, here were some of the key quotes:

Both men bring different skillsets to the table. Benavidez, the heavy-handed Mexican, will likely have to deal with Plant’s manoeuvring and fleet-footed footwork.
However, as we saw in his last fight, Plant’s left hook sent Anthony Dirrell to the canvas, showing he carries knockout power. Plant’s antics of mimicking a coffin being dug didn’t help in the post-knockout celebrations, but it did earn him the ‘2022 PBC’s Knockout of the Year award.’

Benavidez On Plant
This is what Benavidez had this to say:
“I already knew it was go time after I got off the plane. Whatever happens, happens. That’s the type of grudge match that we have. It’s kind of dangerous because I can f**k it up with him and his mouth.
“It’s very personal. I seen him, but I already put fear into him. When I got out of the hotel, I said, ‘This is a dead man walking here.’ I told him that I was going to beat his a**,’ and do you know what he told me? ‘Bro, look at your pants.’ I don’t know what that means.”
