David Benavidez And Gilberto Ramirez Face Off Ahead Of Unification Bout

David Benavidez (31-0) will box WBA and WBO unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez (48-1) on May 2 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, as they held their final presser. The event will air outside the U.S. live on FIGHT SPORTS MAX in several countries.

Benavidez is coming off a seventh-round knockout win over Anthony Yarde last November to retain his WBC light heavyweight title. A win over Ramirez makes Benavidez a three-weight world champion, as he has spoken about moving back down to 175 to face the likes of Dmitry Bivol or even jump up to heavyweight. Likewise, Ramirez secured a win in his last outing, defeating Yuniel Dorticos in June 2025. Ramirez has said he could conclude his boxing career within the next two fights, putting the pressure on him to secure the victory. Here are the highlights from their final presser.
