David Benavidez Vs. Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez Officially Announced For May

It has been officially confirmed that David Benavidez will next step into the ring with the unified cruiserweight champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez.

Benavidez (31-0) most recently faced Anthony Yarde last November and ended the evening in the seventh round with unanswered punches. Likewise, Ramirez (48-1) also found a sound victory in his last outing, defeating Yuniel Dorticos on MVP Promotions’ card last June.

The news came on Friday that Benavidez’s move up to cruiserweight from light heavyweight, where he currently holds two belts, is now official and scheduled, but “El Monstro” initially indicated his intentions following his victory over Yarde last year. But he will certainly be in for an enormous challenge for his debut at 200-pounds in facing Zurdo, who is also undefeated in his career aside from his 2022 loss to Dmitry Bivol.

The fight will go down under the bright lights of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026.

The event is being promoted by Premier Boxing Champions with Golden Boy Promotions and will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
