David Benavidez Wants Canelo Next – ‘Give The People What They Want’
The ‘Mexican Monster’ David Benavidez has called out Canelo Alvarez, piling on the pressure for the undisputed champion to make a mega clash.
Benavidez became the WBC interim champion when he beat Caleb Plant to put himself in line for a title shot. While that may have been the case, Canelo has already set his eyes on rematching Dmitry Bivol.

Following his victory over John Ryder, Canelo made it clear that he wanted Bivol next in September.
However, there has been a major stumbling block over the terms of the deal, with both fighters reportedly disagreeing on the weight class.
Canelo has demanded a rematch at light heavyweight, while Bivol appears to be keen on fighting at 168 lbs for the undisputed titles. If that fight cannot be made, then Benavidez is ready to step in.
“Let’s give the people what they want to see,” Benavidez
It is not exactly clear who Canelo would face if the Bivol fight could not be made. Nevertheless, Eddie Hearn has stressed that other alternatives are being considered.
One of those could be Jermell Charlo, who also called out the Mexican. If that were to materialize, that being a bout other than Benavidez, then the claims that Canelo is avoiding him may only grow.
After all, Alvarez infamously stated that he didn’t want to ‘fight Mexicans.’ But the pressure from the fans may prove too much.
