David Benavidez’s Promoter Confirms Offer Has Been Sent For A Canelo Fight

The ‘Mexican Monster’ David Benavidez’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, has sent an offer to Eddy Reynoso to fight Canelo Alvarez.

Following Benavidez’s victory over Caleb Plant, the pressure has been mounting on Canelo to face his fellow Mexican.

Alvarez had infamously claimed that he did not want to fight Mexicans, which led to suggestions that he was avoiding Benavidez.

While he is keen to rematch Dmitry Bivol at 175 lbs, that fight is no closer to being made, only increasing the pressure on Alvarez to face Benavidez.

With that being said, Lewkowicz’s following letter to Reynoso signified Benavidez’s intention to get the fight made. And in doing so, it dismissed any attempts from Canelo’s team that no offer had been made.

“On Monday May 29 at 4:45pm, I emailed you what I’m sure would be one of the most lucrative offers of Canelo Alvarez’s career to face Benavidez.

“Please know that you do indeed have an offer to face Benavidez, a sizeable one, and I must tell you that I’m offended by your claim that I’m “fantasizing” about making this fight happen.

“If you are also unable to find this open letter and no one tells you about it, would anyone who knows him please let Eddy know that I will send this same offer any time for him to communicate to Canelo Alvarez,” Lewkowicz

Those comments raised a reaction on social media, with a huge proportion of the boxing community wanting to see the fight being made.
