David Light, a contender from New Zealand, has made a promise to surprise the world on April 25th, 2023, as he takes on Lawrence Okolie, the WBO cruiserweight world champion.
Light secured the opportunity in December by winning a split-decision victory against Brandon Glanton, despite being knocked down in the final round.
According to the majority of boxing experts, Okolie is considered the best in his weight category and is expected to easily defeat Light, who has yet to experience his first loss in his career.

Okolie has been very successful in his fights, winning 14 out of 18 matches by knockout. Despite having great admiration for Okolie, Light is not concerned about the odds and has spent years analyzing Okolie’s techniques and approach.
“I meet people, and I have to explain to them and, like, really convince them that I’m a professional boxer. They just don’t think that that’s what I am. People are always writing me off. Something that I’ve really started to enjoy is proving people wrong. It was the same thing [with Glanton]. I came in as the underdog,” Sky Sports
