David Morrell Jr. And Sena Agbeko Set For Showtime’s Boxing Finale On December 16

David Morrell Jr. will face off against Sena Agbeko on December 16th, 2023, in a defense of his WBA ‘regular’ super middleweight belt.

The fight is set to be the final card that Showtime will broadcast this year following reports that they will pull out of boxing next year. The fight in question had initially been planned for the Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia card. However, Agbeko withdrew after The Nevada State Athletic Commission deemed him medically unfit to fight due to an abnormality detected in the brain. However, Dmitriy Salita (Agbeko’s promoter) confirmed that his fighter has now been declared medically fit to fight. As we have reportedly previously, a win for Morrell would put him in line for a mega fight down the line after David Benavidez confirmed that his intention was to face the Cuban if a fight with Canelo Alvarez did not happen.

“I was going after Caleb Plant. I got him. Demetrius Andrade, I’ve had my eye on him for a while, and I got him. After I get him, if I don’t get the Canelo fight, then we’re going after David Morrell. “I’ve been preparing for this since I was 23 years old. I’ve been a professional for ten years. I’m more than ready. I’m not just preparing for Canelo. I want to be the most dominant fighter in my generation,” Benavidez said

So, come fight night, Morrell Jr. knows a victory takes him one step closer to a potential world title shot.
