After rumors, subtweets, and some confirmation by Bob Arum, Gervonta Davis has admitted issues with his promoter, Floyd Mayweather.
In a new interview conducted by FightHype, Davis opened up about his reaction to Mayweather’s claims that Davis wanted to fight Lomachenko without discussing it with Davis.
“I felt, when I said what I said — I was forced into the first title fight — then there you go. There you go. He talking to another fighter without talking to me and that promotion or management…[shrugs].”
Davis, who has two years left on his contract, feels Mayweather Promotions has done right by him, but the namesake has not lived up to his end of the bargain. Even though there may be a silence between the two, Davis claims no beef between the two.
“We don’t have beef…We’re not seeing eye to eye…he traveling, doing him, and I’m doing me. I’m traveling,” Davis claimed this weekend.
“Mayweather Promotions been moving me right, doing what they supposed to be doing with me. It’s just Floyd…”
Even though Davis aired his grievances in the above interview, he would once again subtweet his promoter on Sunday.
Let’s just spar and get it off our chest
