Davis And Garcia Exchange Taunts At Grand Arrival-‘Not Gonna Stop Me, It’ll Be An Early Night’

Gervonta Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) and Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) face each other on April 22nd, 2023, from the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, with the winner being crowned the ‘face of boxing.’

The odds for the fight place Davis at a slight favorite at -270, while Garcia’s odds stand at +205. And the pressure on both fighters has only increased following their recent social media exchange in which they vowed to bet their entire purse.

And as part of that process, they arrived at the MGM for their grand arrivals to give fans a glimpse of what is to come. With that being said, here is what went down with some of boxing’s biggest names.

Oscar De La Hoya

Prediction: “I love Gervonta, but let’s go Ryan. I got Ryan by knockout. I don’t know [what round] but it’s gonna end in a knockout.”

Ryan Garcia

Garcia arrived into the arena with a huge crowd in support showing the mass crossover appeal that he has garnered. While Davis is considered the bigger name, Garcia’s entrance showed that he has no shortage of fans.

And this was evident upon Garcia’s arrival. Stepping out from the car, Garcia was swamped with media and mass applause, looking on weight at the same time as he readies himself for the 135lb limit.

Once inside, Garcia talked up his chances while addressing the recent bet on social media and whether that would turn out to be legally binding.

On the bet: “I just hope he’s not talking about the purse he wears. That’s all I’m worried about. We’re not talking about the purse you’re wearing.

“We’re talking about the whole fight purse. Let’s bring it on.”

Aside from the bet, Garcia was keen to put Davis on notice with his war of words, showing that the hype surrounding the fight was not getting to him.

On his mindset: “He’s a great fighter. But he cannot stop what’s going to happen on Saturday night. He’s not gonna stop me.

“I’m just going to have something he cannot defeat…Gervonta will be done, but I want him to learn a good lesson after this victory.

“In a blink of an eye, it will be finished. In a blink of an eye. It’s gone and everyone will be shocked. Nobody will have anything to say. No words will be spoken.”

Leonard Ellebe

“This is the biggest fight in boxing right now. The fans are the winners. This is the biggest fight of his career and Ryan Garcia is a terrific opponent and he’s going to bring out the best in Tank.

“You have two young undefeated guys in their prime…The fans have been clamouring for these two to get in the ring.”

Davis arrived second, as the A-side, with his customary late appearance which he has become synonymous for as shown in the initial pre-fight presser. Tank took in the atmosphere, as he made his way to the stage.

Gervonta Davis

On the fight: “It means everything. We’ve put everything on the line. Coming from where I have come from, it’s big…This is the top level, so I’m ready.

On the bet: “I’m trying to make it official. We’ve been calling his advisor and things like that so hopefully we can get it done.”

Davis knows that fighting on the biggest stage is something he witnessed so many others do. And in keeping with Floyd Mayweather Jr, he teased his fans over the outcome.

Prediction: “You gotta tune in. It’s something you don’t want to miss…Hopefully, he come[s] ready. If not, it’ll be an early night.”
