Davis: Gamboa Is Toughest Test

After dominating at junior lightweight, Gervonta Davis is making a big step up on December 28th against Yuriorkis Gamboa for WBA lightweight title.

“Gamboa was gold medalist, he’s a tough opponent and I am testing the waters at lightweight,” Davis said on Tuesday in a press conference in Atlanta. “I believe this is my biggest test.”

While Gamboa will be turning 38 days before the fight and he’s not held a championship since 2013, Davis maintains the Cuban southpaw will be a problem on fight night.

“He’s a three-time world champion,” notes Davis. “I’m sparring with younger guys—younger than me to make sure we are ready for him.”
