Davis Settles Mall Lawsuit
Gervonta Davis is the latest pro fighter to resolve a legal dispute this week, as the super featherweight champion settled an incident at a Virginia mall.
The Baltimore native was charged back in February following a physical altercation with a person at an ATM machine of an upscale Virginia mall.
When the police arrived on the scene, the 24-year-old boxer allegedly “directed derogatory and offensive language” towards the officers.
Following a charge of misdemeanor assault, Davis faced a potential one-year behind bars for the crime, but avoided jail by making a deal with prosecutors.
Davis will write a check to the victim for the injuries suffered in exchange for prosecutors dropping the charges.
The world champion boxer is set for a return to the ring on December 28th, moving up to lightweight to faces Yuriorkis Gamboa for the vacant WBA lightweight title.
