Davis vs. Loma Could Happen In November

Kenny Ellis, Gervonta Davis’ co-trainer, has suggested a fight with Vasily Lomachenko could happen in November.

Talks are already underway, as per Bob Arum. Any deal would see PBC and EPSN doing a joint broadcast. The chances of this happening have increased following the Saudis introduction into boxing, which has put the onus on promoters to make the big fights. PBC’s deal with Amazon Prime Video requires big fights, while Arum recognizes Loma is at the tail end of his career.

Davis stopped Frank Martin in round eight during his previous fight to keep his WBA Lightweight Title. Lomachenko, meanwhile, won the vacant IBF Lightweight Title by stopping George Kambosos Jr. in round 11. Arum was confident about the fight. While Ellis suggested a date for November 24, that is unlikely since it is a Sunday. That makes it more difficult to put on a big PPV fight when a prime time event on Saturday would sell more.

“I’m optimistic that will happen but until it’s signed, you don’t know. The networks are cooperative. You can’t blame the networks if a fight isn’t made. It’s people involved with the fighters who are not being realistic, but I don’t think that will be the case. I think the negotiations will go very well between the sides,” Arum said

“Chenko will be destroyed. 11-24,” Ellis
