DC Explains Not Wanting Miocic Rematch
Some MMA fans have questioned why Stipe Miocic hasn’t received a UFC heavyweight title rematch, and the Cleveland native himself has been making a case to receive such.
Miocic feels current champion Daniel Cormier “owes” him a rematch from their UFC 226 encounter. Cormier, the then-light heavyweight champion, knocked out Miocic in the first round to become the second “champ-champ” in UFC history. Miocic hasn’t fought since the July event, while Cormier successfully retained the heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230.
Cormier took to social media to respond to Miocic’s claim, giving reason as to why Miocic hasn’t received a title rematch.
Do you guys wanna know why I’m not fighting @stipemiocic again?

Reason 1: he’s being entitled, why have I fought since and he hasn’t. He lost the fight is he still the champ? Reason 2: I’m hurt Reason3: how do I do it better? I beat him in a round last time ? https://t.co/sQF4Wu5q6P

As mentioned in the tweets, Cormier has been dealing with an injury that has kept him out of action since the November bout with Lewis. He surrendered the light heavyweight title one night before it would be put on the line at UFC 232 between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.
Further puzzling the situation is the current status of Brock Lesnar, who shoved Cormier in the Octagon following his UFC 226 title win. Cormier has been holding out for a fight with Lesnar, whose currently under contract to WWE and its universal champion on the Raw brand.
Cormier threw a shot in at Lesnar on Twitter, as well.
