De La Hoya: Canelo-Floyd II A $1.5 Billion Fight

As is tradition prior to a Canelo Alvarez fight, many are asking who is next for the unified middleweight champion.

While Alvarez is set to face off on May 4th against fellow middleweight champion, Daniel Jacobs, Alvarez is dead-set on a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, who trounced Alvarez in a 2013 showdown.

Speaking with TMZ, Alvarez’ promoter Oscar De La Hoya said that Alvarez was intent on the showdown with the undefeated boxer, and is willing to go above and beyond.

“First of all, Floyd is retired so there is no fight to make. But if Floyd did want to come back, he should stop fighting fighters who are two weight divisions smaller than him. If Floyd Mayweather decides to come back, a fight with him and Canelo could be a $1.5 billion fight,” Oscar tells TMZ Sports.

“I would love to have the opportunity to avenge that defeat,” Canelo told us through a translator. “But if it doesn’t, then I will continue my path and write my own history.”
