De La Hoya Contacts Davis On DAZN Deal
Oscar De La Hoya is looking at other fighters to join the DAZN stable, including world champion Gervonta Davis.
De La Hoya, Golden Boy Promotions’ CEO, reached out to Davis on Twitter about potentially fighting on DAZN. Golden Boy Promotions recently signed a multi-year with DAZN to not only have Canelo Alvarez fight on the streaming service but also broadcast multiple yearly boxing cards promoted by Golden Boy.
@Gervontaa you are a beast in the ring and fun to watch, give me a call so I can get you some fights on @DAZN_USA

However, there was one issue with De La Hoya making that kind of tweet towards Davis: Davis is currently signed with Mayweather Promotions. Needless to say, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe was furious at De La Hoya,
Whatever the hell you on, you’ve completely lost your damn mind. Do I need to remind you Gervonta is under contract? https://t.co/obZTvqiSq4

@OscarDeLaHoya what the fuck is your problem dude? My lawyer will be contacting you ASAP. You’ve completely lost it https://t.co/lsWxnkwAYD

De La Hoya then tried to save face by then contacting Ellerbe in the hopes of reaching a deal to have Davis fight on DAZN.
Come on Leonard let’s make the best fights on @DAZN_USA we pay a shit load of money. https://t.co/BFFP5uSLiR

Davis won the WBA “super” super featherweight title back in April when he knocked out Jesus Cuellar. Since then, he has yet to defend his title and currently does not have a fight scheduled for him.
