De La Hoya On A Garcia Vs. Haney Rematch

Oscar De La Hoya confirmed that he is targeting July 2026 for a rematch between Ryan Garcia (25-2-0) and Devin Haney (33-0), although negotiations have yet to commence.

Both fighters are currently in great form. Garcia silenced his doubters by beating Mario Barrios to capture the WBC Welterweight Title last month. Haney has been equally busy, securing the WBO Welterweight Title with a victory over Brian Norman Jr. last November to become a three-weight champion. Their April 2024 bout, where Garcia dropped Haney three times but later tested positive for Ostarine, remains a point of contention. Garcia’s majority decision win was turned into a no-contest. 

Haney is currently deep in “serious conversations” to face Rolando Romero on May 30. If Haney defeats Romero, he will hold both the WBO and WBA welterweight belts, making a July fight with Garcia a three-belt unification. A July date would require Haney, though, to return to the ring just six weeks after a fight with Romero as September could be more realistic.
