De La Hoya Ridicules Ryan Garcia’s Association With Mayweather

Oscar De La Hoya mocked Ryan Garcia after the latter was recently pictured hanging out with Floyd Mayweather Jr

The Golden Boy promoter and Mayweather are not on the best of terms ever since he beat De La Hoya via a split decision, as the tensions carried on into the promotional part of boxing. And it has not been helped by recent revelations from Mayweather that he would be open to signing Garcia if he were a free agent.

“I’m not looking to sign Ryan, but if he wants to sign and he’s free, I’d sign him. If I’m not mistaken, he’s under contract. Hypothetically, if Ryan Garcia gets free, will Ryan Garcia be with Mayweather Promotions or PBC? Absolutely. It’s only if he’s free. Who don’t want to work with the best,” Mayweather

This is particularly since Garcia and De La Hoya are in a legal dispute over an alleged breach of contract. In response, De La Hoya is demanding that Garcia honor his contract, while the latter has sought mediation instead of the lawsuit.

“Ryan Garcia filed a motion to dismiss GBP’s suit against him Monday in Nevada, which was obtained by ESPN. Garcia argues his contract stipulates that any disagreement be mediated first. GBP filed suit against Garcia in June to enforce its contract,” Mike Coppinger

With that being said, De La Hoya’s following comments will only go on to deepen the divide between Garcia and him.

“Good seeing you with the guy I beat [heart emoji],” De La Hoya said

And this was the sentiment being expressed on social media.
