De La Hoya Wants Spence-Canelo

In the full post-fight hype of Canelo Alvarez’ win over Daniel Jacobs, Oscar De La Hoya has called out Errol Spence to move up to middleweight to fight Alvarez.

Spence, who saw Mikey Garcia move up to welterweight to fight him in April is in the midst of unifying his division, but has been called upon by De La Hoya to come to 160 pounds and face Alvarez.

“I am letting you know that we love the fight as well and I’ve always said that Errol Spence is one of the most talented fighters out there,” said De La Hoya to ESPN.

“There’s no reason why Spence can’t move up to middleweight if Mikey Garcia could go up to welterweight to fight Spence. And if Spence fights Canelo, it will be the most money Errol Spence will ever make. I would love to start the ball rolling. Let’s do it. We just want to get Canelo the best fights and the toughest challenges out there.”

While the odds of this fight happening are astronomically low, what other super fights would you want to see if boxers moved across weight divisions? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter.
