Boxing Returns to N.Y. With Jack-DeGale
One of the first great fights of 2017 will go down in New York. Super-middleweight champions Badou Jack and James DeGale will have a unification fight on January 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
IBF champion DeGale, of England, and WBC champ Jack, of Las Vegas, have gone back and forth concerning the desired location of the fight. While it had previously been targeted for Vegas, a press release from Mayweather Promotions confirmed that the fight will take place in Brooklyn.
A press conference will be held on Nov. 16 at 12 P.M. EST. Floyd Mayweather, President of Mayweather Promotions, will be in attendance.
Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment, will also attend the presser. DiBella has been one of the most vocal figures concerning the New York Athletic Commission’s new insurance regulations that have made boxing events difficult to put on in New York.
The press release announced that a special group of "New York boxing ambassadors", including boxer Heather Hardy and actress Rosie Perez, will attend the conference to discuss the return of boxing in New York.
