Deiveson Figueiredo Says Things Have Gotten Personal With Brandon Moreno
UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo has a beef brewing with Brandon Moreno.
Figueiredo and Moreno were recently in action this past Saturday night, November 21. Figueiredo successfully defended his 125-pound gold by submitting Alex Perez in under two minutes. As for Moreno, he stopped Brandon Royval in the first round via TKO.
Moreno has been calling for a flyweight title opportunity and it appears he is the clear number one contender. The UFC is already looking at booking the fight for UFC 256 on December 12.
Speaking to reporters during the UFC 255 post-fight press conference, Figueiredo said that he wants to decimate Moreno as he feels things have become personal between them (h/t MMAFighting.com).
“I think I’m going to destroy him. If I touch him, I’m going to break him. Just touching him.
“Because Brandon Moreno talk a lot of bad things about me. I have a personal problem with Brandon Moreno. I think I’m going to destroy Brandon Moreno in December. But I want the boss to show the desire to see this fight.”
Figueiredo’s victory over Perez was his first successful UFC Flyweight Title defense. He is now riding a five-fight winning streak. Figueiredo hasn’t suffered a loss since March 23, 2019. It is the only blemish on his pro MMA record.
As for Moreno, he’s gone 4-0-1 in his last five outings. He is tied for the number one spot with Joseph Benavidez on the official UFC flyweight rankings. He is 7-2-1 under the UFC banner, while Figueiredo has gone 9-1 during his time with the promotion.
