Deiveson Figueiredo Targeting Brandon Moreno Rematch In June
UFC Flyweight Champion Deiveson Figueiredo is looking to throw down with Brandon Moreno a second time either in late spring or early summer.
Back in December 2020, Figueiredo and Moreno delivered an instant classic. Both men traded leather for five rounds in an action-packed fight. The score totals were read and the fight was declared a majority draw.
Figueiredo’s manager, Wallid Ismail, told BJPenn.com that his fighter is looking at sharing the Octagon with Moreno again this June.
“100 percent his next fight is Moreno. We are working on it happening in June. There is no date yet but Deiveson wants June.”
Back in December, UFC President Dana White told reporters that he planned to book the rematch after the efforts both men put on display.
“Seriously, we throw the word around a lot, but these two are seriously f*ckin’ savages. Both of these guys are absolute savages … You absolutely, positively do that rematch. That’s another fun fight for us all to look forward to in 2021.”
Figueiredo has gone 5-0-1 in his last six outings. In that span, he’s beaten Joseph Benavidez twice, Alexandre Pantoja, Tim Elliott, and Alex Perez.
Moreno is 4-0-2 in his last six fights. The other draw was against Askar Askarov. The victories came against Jussier Formiga, Brandon Royval, Kai Kara-France, and Maikel Perez.
