Demetrious Johnson Near Deal For UFC 227

Demetrious Johnson’s return to the Octagon is close to complete, and it may be against an old opponent.

Per a report from Ariel Helwani, a rematch between Johnson and Henry Cejudo is in the works for UFC 227 on August 4th, as Johnson attempts to defend his title for the 12th time.

While TJ Dillashaw was Johnson’s desired opponent for the UFC’s return to Los Angeles, Dillashaw will be facing off against Cody Garbrandt in a highly anticipated batntamweight title rematch.

Johnson was last seen inside the octagon at UFC 216, where he defeated Ray Borg with a highlight reel armbar, which gave him a record 11 consecutive title defenses.

Cejudo squared off with Johnson at UFC 197 in 2016, where Cejudo was stopped in the first round with strikes.
