Demetrius Andrade Needs New Opponent After Hernandez-Harrison Yanked
Demetrius Andrade is in need of a new opponent.
Andrade was scheduled to take on Dusty Hernandez-Harrison in the co-main event of a DAZN card headlined by Daniel Jacobs vs. Gabe Rosado. The bout was supposed to take place inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on November 27 but a change has been made. Hernandez-Harrison is out.
The father and trainer of Andrade, Paul, explained to BoxingScene.com why Hernandez-Harrison will not be fighting his son after all.
“He was pulled. I was told the kid was weighing over 200 pounds and not close to weight with a month to go. But we are getting ready for a fight. Whoever it is doesn’t matter to us. We’re getting ready for a fight. We are in the gym and fighting next month. That’s all I know. We’ve been in training camp. My job is to get Demetrius ready to fight regardless of who we’re fighting.”
Golden Boy Promotions is looking at D’Mitrius Ballard as a potential replacement opponent. Nothing has been made official but Ballard seems to be an enticing option.
Andrade is the WBO Middleweight Champion but his next bout will be a nontitle fight. That’s because Andrade will be competing in the super-middleweight division.
