Demetrius Andrade Predicts Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders
Demetrius Andrade has offered his prediction for Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders.
On May 8, Canelo and Saunders will collide in a super-middleweight title fight. Canelo is the WBA (Super), WBC, and The Ring Champion. Saunders holds the WBO gold. The action will be held inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Andrade has been eyeing bouts with both Canelo and Saunders. To do so, he’d have to move up to 168 pounds. Andrade currently holds the WBO Middleweight Title.
During an interview with BoxingScene.com, Andrade explained why he feels Canelo will defeat Saunders.
“May the best man win. Canelo showed that he was maybe able to carry a little power [up to the 168-pound division]. He’s trying to be a little more agile and mobile, or whatever. Just going off the last fight, Saunders looked like [expletive] when he fought Martin Murray. He couldn’t do anything. He really didn’t dominate him in the way that he should’ve, the way somebody supposedly that good, that talented, should’ve done against Martin Murray, who’s been out the ring for however many years. If he brings that same type of fight to Canelo, I think Canelo’s gonna beat him.”
“I don’t think Billy Joe is a walkover. I don’t think if he just gets hit, he’s gonna quit. But I don’t think Canelo’s knocking him out. Nobody’s been knocking nobody out, really. I mean, he knocked out this guy [Avni Yildirim] who wasn’t supposed to be in the ring with him. But when he’s in there with somebody that knows what they’re doing, he’s not knocking them out.”
Many agree that this is the biggest fight of Saunders’ pro boxing career. He has a perfect record of 30-0 but Canelo is by far the bigger star. Canelo is a big betting favorite going into his clash with Saunders.
