Demetrius Andrade Unimpressed With Canelo Alvarez Taking On John Ryder-‘Just Another Easy Fight’
Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) is looking to take a fight against Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs) following his recent hand surgery.
Following Alvarez’s fights in 2021, his upcoming match against the 34-year-old fighter Ryder has not gone down well. With more talented competition from the U.S. like Andrade, Charlo, Benavidez, and Morrell available, Andrade has been far from impressed.
After all, following Canelo’s win over Billy Joe Saunders, Andrade was expelled from the press conference as he was insisting on fighting him. With that being said, Andrade had a lot to say.
In his comments to Thaboxingvoice, he said: “Just more bull s**t, bro. That’s just what it is. Just another easy fight. Another situation for him to go in and say, ‘I’m fighting the best,’ but come on, he’s not the best. Nah, I did my thing. I did my Rocky Balboa s**t. I’m not going to rely on chasing down Canelo when Canelo don’t want to do it. He’d rather fight John Ryder.”
Andrade’s comments may have some merit, with one social media user remarking: “I agree Canelo should fight Benavidez, but who’s Andrade fighting this year?”
And yet, this could be just another ploy for Andrade to secure a big money showdown with Canelo himself.
