Deontay Wilder Calls out Luis Ortiz

Deontay Wilder is shopping around for his next fight, and while it won’t be Anthony Joshua, the heavyweight fighter is set to fight as soon as  November – and he may have his next opponent in Cuban southpaw Luis Ortiz.

Speaking with Premier Boxing Champions, the unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion spoke about how Ortiz, also unbeaten, but unlike other fighters,“The Bronze Bomber” isn’t afraid.

“My coming back, I would love to have the Ortiz fight,” Wilder said. “I would love to have that and get that going. Ortiz is considered the “Boogeyman” of the sport, whatever that means. I’m the one that’s calling him out. I’m the one that wants to see him in that ring, and I do mean soon. If you’re the “Boogeyman” of the sport, if people are scared to fight you, let me tell you who ain’t.”

While it seems that Wilder if he had his druthers, would be facing Ortiz, but has a mandatory challenger in Bermane Stiverne. If the WBC has the final call, we will have to wait a while for Ortiz/Wilder as Stiverne will be taking that title shot.
