Derek Chisora vs. Joseph Parker Possible In 2021?

A heavyweight collision between Derek Chisora and Joseph Parker could be in play this year.

Chisora vs. Parker was originally scheduled to take place back in October 2019. That plan was derailed after Parker fell ill due to a spider bite. Fast forward to 2021, and talks for a bout between Chisora and Parker appear to be heating up again.

Parker’s manager, David Higgins, told Sky Sports that there is still interest in a showdown with Chisora.

“I’ve heard some noises and frankly that is a fight with interest. We’d endorse it and there is interest from Parker, and our management team would endorse it. There was a lot of talk in the past. The fight was contracted at one point. I think that fight makes sense.

Chisora is also onboard with trying to make the lost matchup happen.

“I’ve made no secret that I want the fight with Parker. I signed the fight, flew to his camp in LA to film only for him to chicken out and claim a spider bite was the reason he couldn’t step in the ring with me.

“The truth is, when sat across the table, looking in my eyes, reality hit, he wasn’t ready for the WAR I bring. If fight fans want it, I’m game. He can come to me this time. This fight happens on my turf.”

Parker is set to take on Junior Fa inside the Spark Arena in Auckland on February 27. It’ll be interesting to see if there will be any movement to make Chisora vs. Parker a reality in 2021.
