Dern Wins Second MMA Bout

Mackenzie Dern needed just 3:25 to pick up her second win in MMA, her first win with a finish, as she won with a first-round submission at Legacy FC 61.

Dern, a world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu who is now 2-0 in her MMA career, defeated Montana Stewart with an omoplata rear-naked choke, something that caught the eye and praises of many.

"I don’t know if she [tapped to] the shoulder or the choke, but I hope both were uncomfortable," Dern said in a post-fight interview.

Dern landed punches and a couple of knees to the mid-section of Stewart, though Stewart got a few shots in of her own. The fight, however, became all Dern once it went to the ground.

Dern said she wants to make a quick turnaround and compete again on Dec. 2, and she hopes to get to the UFC by early next year. She will have to work on weight cutting, however, as she will forfeit some of her fight purse to Stewart for missing weight by 2.3 pounds.
