Details Emerge On Ex-UFC Fighter Anthony Smith’s Arrest

Details on former UFC light heavyweight title contender and current UFC broadcast analyst, Anthony Smith’s arrest have been revealed.

Smith allegedly threatened to kill his wife and attempted to strike her with a vehicle following an altercation at a Nebraska bar. The Sarpy County Attorney’s Office released a statement Wednesday after Smith’s initial hearing, during which he was granted a $500,000 bond on the condition he have no contact with his wife pending a trial.

According to prosecutors, the incident began at a bar in Gretna, Nebraska, where Smith allegedly threatened to kill his wife if she did not leave with him, before grabbing her and pushing her into his vehicle. When she escaped during the drive, investigators concluded Smith made multiple attempts to hit her with the car. She was able to avoid the vehicle and was not physically harmed.

A warrant was issued and Smith, who subsequently turned himself in. Smith, 38, faces three felony charges including first-degree domestic assault and first-degree false imprisonment, and is due back in court on August 17. If convicted, he faces up to a 20 year prison sentence.
