Details Regarding Wilder-Fury Trilogy Fight In July
A few days after Tyson Fury beat Deontay Wilder via TKO, the former WBC Heavyweight Champion stated he was invoking his rematch clause. Just like Wilder, instead of announcing a plan later, the date and location for the bout is set.
The bout is being planned for July 18 inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We received a letter from Wilder’s team on Friday night, and we agreed with the networks and the hotel that July 18 was the optimal date,” Top Rank’s Bob Arum stated, via the LA Times. “We had a seamless promotion last time with Al Haymon, PBC [Premier Boxing Champions] and Fox. We look forward to working with them again.”
The rematch between the two was a one-sided affair in which Fury chased Wilder all over the ring. Fury knocked Wilder down twice, the first time causing the inside of his ear to bleed. Wilder’s corner ended up throwing in the towel for the fight, resulting in Fury winning the WBC and The Ring Heavyweight Titles to go along with the lineal championship. Following the fight, Wilder blamed the 40-pound suit he was wearing to the ring, the referee and his assistant trainer, who he was not happy threw in the towel.
The first fight was a controversial split-decision draw that saw Fury rise up from a brutal power punch by Wilder in the 12th round. Fury and Wilder had a 50-50 split of the purses this time around, which makes this fight interesting. Could Fury receive a bigger payday due to his status and the dominant performance he displayed?
One of the things to keep an eye on is the month in which the fight takes place on. The UFC is planning for UFC 251 to take place during International Fight Week the week prior. A Conor McGregor-Justin Gaethje bout is reportedly in the works.
That’s seven days after UFC 252. Imagine McGregor and Fury fighting in Vegas a week apart? Could very well happen, and it would obviously be massive. https://t.co/ZmPWAFRGhm

If Fury wins the bout, he could end up facing the winner of Anthony Joshua v. Kubrat Pulev, taking place in June. The winner of the two bouts would then face off to determine the undisputed Heavyweight Champion.
