Devin And Bill Haney Slam The Davis-Garcia Rehydration Clause-‘We’re Not Suckers’

Devin Haney reacted to Gervonta Davis’ weight stipulations that were imposed on Ryan Garcia.

According to reports, Garcia has been ordered to fight at 135 pounds with a 10-pound-rehydration clause, putting him a disadvantage.

This was controversial, to say the least, given that Garcia is usually accustomed to fighting at 140. And this all came to the fore when Garcia accused Davis of ‘weight-draining’ him at the pre-fight presser.

Haney, though, has made it clear that he will not accept a rehydration clause if Davis wants to fight him.

This is understandable since Haney holds all the belts and has shown that he is capable of attracting huge crowds by going down under to beat George Kambosos Jr., as well as by making a fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko.

“I have to be victorious, and those fights will line up. I wouldn’t, and I couldn’t do a rehydration clause. I’m the man with the belts; I’m the man with the hardware. A rehydration clause is something I wouldn’t do,” Haney said.

Much in the same way, Bill Haney has had his own say on the Tank-Garcia bout by branding it as an “exhibition” rather than a genuine fight due to the weight restriction.

In his comments on ‘The Boxing Voice,’ he said: “That’s what you make Tank out to be, a fighter that fights with weight stipulations? We don’t got to fight Tank. We can fight Shakur.

“Tank can keep doing exhibitions. He can pick another guy and give him some rehydration, dehydration. We’re not just suckers and we’re not just going for anything.”
