Devin Haney Calls Out Gervonta Davis And Ryan Garcia-‘We Just Got To Wait, God Willing’

Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney is targeting the winner of Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia as they square off on April 22nd, 2023.

Haney is one of the biggest names in the division, so naturally, he should want the biggest fights out there. And since the winner of Davis vs. Garcia will become the face of boxing, this would fit the bill.

While that may be the case, he has things closer to home to deal with. Haney is currently scheduled to face Vasiliy Lomachenko on May 20th, 2023.

This is the American’s second defense of his undisputed titles after having previously beaten George Kambosos Jr. back-to-back to win all the belts.

Should Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) secure victory, he intends to remain in the 135-pound division.

However, there are some obstacles in the way. Haney has been struggling to make weight, looking drained during his last fight against Kambosos on the scales.

However, since a move to 140 lbs does not appear appealing, given the lack of big fights on the line, the American is keen to stick it out for one more fight at 135 lbs.

In his comment to Max Kellerman, he said: “I’m looking to be a multi-weight world champion. Maybe we’ll go up to 140 and become undisputed one day, God willing.

“So, of course, I’m eyeing Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez, but I’m also looking at the Tank and Ryan fight.

“We saw Shakur. So we just got to wait things out, but it all starts with me being victorious on May 20th because without me being victorious, I can’t have those fights.”
