Devin Haney Is Set On Proving His Doubters Are Wrong In Kambosos Fight
WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney is determined that his upcoming fight with IBF/WBA/WBC Franchise/WBO champion George Kambosos will show that he is “the real deal”.
Haney (27-0, 15 KOs), will be visiting from the United States as he will be fighting Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) on June 5 – June 6 in the U.S. – at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
Haney had made sure to show that he is not shaken about this upcoming clash.
“On June 5th, I will show it. I will show everything that I am made of and walk out victorious,” Haney told Fox News.
“He’s not supposed to have any respect for me or anything like that, because you’re going in there, we’re going in there to fight and compete. I’m going there to win and to take his belt. So if he doesn’t have any respect, then that’s no problem.”
Haney also made it clear that this fight will be the one that proves his detractors wrong.
“This is a huge opportunity for me, you know, just to become the youngest undisputed champion. This is bragging rights. The world has said so much, the boxing world has said so many things, all this and that. This is finally my time to prove the doubters wrong and show my fans that I am the real deal.
“It is my time to prove that I am the best of the bunch and nobody put me into place. I earned it, just like I will earn these belts. At the end of the day, this is a fight for the history books, the youngest undisputed champion. My kids will remember this moment, my family will forever have that.”
However, the pressure is also on Kambosos, with him coming off his upset win against Teofimo Lopez back in December. Now with Kambosos’ next fight taking place in his own backyard, Marvel Stadium is expected to have a crowd of 50,000, mostly made up of Kambosos supporters.
