Bob Arum was reportedly overheard telling Vasiliy Lomachenko that he ‘easily’ beat Devin Haney.
The pair faced off for the undisputed light-welterweight titles on May 20th, 2023. Haney came out victorious via a unanimous decision, but the result divided the boxing community.
A certain subset made it clear that Lomachenko should have been victorious, including Shakur Stevenson and Oscar De La Hoya.
One particular point of contention was Dave Moretti’s scorecard of 116-12, which included a 10th-round win for Haney, despite Lomachenko appearing to be the better fighter. And by the looks of it, Bob Arum was not pleased.
Despite having his loyalty divided by having signed both fighters under his promotional company, the Top Rank CEO allegedly stated the following: “You won that fight easy,” Arum told Lomachenko.
The Ukrainian’s manager Egis Klimas replied: “He won that fight easy, easy. Yes! I know.”
Those comments did not go down well with Haney, who categorically denied reports that he had re-signed with Top Rank.
This was despite Paulie Malignaggi’s claims that Haney had re-signed two days before the Loma fight.

As a result, Haney mocked Arum which would most likely rule out him signing another deal with Top Rank.

In addition, the American shaded Lomachenko by sharing an image of the Ukrainian in tears following the result.

With that being said, the Haney-Loma verdict continues to divide.
