Devin Haney Likely To Face Joseph Diaz Jr On December 4
Their fight has been scheduled for December 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada. DAZN will stream the match live.
MMA reporter Mike Coppinger revealed the news on social media.
Haney has held the WBC lightweight title since 2019. He has been in contention to face Diaz since Ryan Garcia pulled out of the fight due to a hand injury.
Haney had been calling out Diaz for the fight on social media since then. Now with both boxers reaching terms for the super fight, fans are expecting a thriller in the opening week of December.
The WBC lightweight champ has been regarded as one of the boxing greats by the time he finishes his career. He’s only 22 and already built an impressive resume. With his unbeaten streak on the line, the champ will come out hard against Diaz in the grudge match.
Haney is one of the boxers in the industry who doesn’t turn down many fights, regardless of the stature of his opponents. When Rolando Romero was removed from the Showtime card for a bout against Gervonta Davis, Eddie Hearn had confirmed that Haney was ready to step in on the short notice to fight Davis.
