Devin Haney Not Interested In Teofimo Lopez Welterweight Match
Devin Haney says he is no longer on board for a match with Teofimo Lopez after their planned 2025 negotiations fell apart.
After losing his super lightweight title to Shakur Stevenson earlier this year, Lopez announced his move up to welterweight and had Devin Heny’s WBO title on his mind.
Haney secured his welterweight belt back in November 2025 with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Brian Norman Jr. Since then, he has been linked to potential matches with Ryan Garcia and Rolando Romero, in addition to Lopez.
It seems unlikely that Haney will square off with Ryan Garcia again, as he mentioned that since ‘King Ryan’ secured the WBC title, he has been unreasonable in his demands. It was announced this week that WBA titleholder Rolando Romero signed on for a unification bout with Haney, so at this point that could be the most likely scenario.
One thing for certain is that Haney does not want to revisit a fight with Lopez after how their first negotiation process went down.

“That was a fight that I signed for. I didn’t just agree to it. I signed, and I thought it was almost done with. We were just waiting on his signature,” Haney said.
“He agreed to his terms, and I agreed to my terms. And then at the last second, he pulled out of it and went another way. So right now, that’s not a fight I’m willing to entertain just because of those things.”
