Devin Haney On Negotiating Rematch With Ryan Garcia

Since Ryan Garcia captured the WBC welterweight belt, he feels he holds the negotiating power over Devin Haney for their potential rematch, but the WBO titleholder has other ideas.

Last month, Garcia fought to a unanimous decision win over Mario Barrios to earn the WBC title, making a comeback in the eyes of many after losing to Rolando Romero last year. Of course, that loss followed his win over Devin Haney being overturned to a no contest because of a positive drug test.

Now, with the pair both holding world titles at 147-pounds, many feel this is the perfect time for the rematch, but Devin Haney has expressed that they are willing to move on if Garcia is out of line in his demands.

“Ryan Garcia, when the ball was in his court, he didn’t make weight. He showed up with a positive drug test,” Haney said. “We’re not going to do it like that this time around. We’re going to do it the right way. If he doesn’t want to do it the right way, we’ll move on.”
