Devin Haney has confirmed that he was given a $400,000 fine for pushing Vasiliy Lomachenko during their weigh-in before the fight.
Tempers flared before the mega-fight on May 20th, 2023, when Haney uncharacteristically shoved Lomachenko, which was met by a chorus of boos.
And the bitterness only increased when Haney was given a unanimous-decision win which divided the boxing community as he retained his undisputed titles.
Despite this being the case, Lomachenko’s team did not let things lie. His manager, Egis Klimas, made it clear that they would be appealing the decision.
“The biggest robbery in the daylight. Haney’s team got Christmas in the Summer,” Egis Klimas, the manager of Lomachenko said. We’re going to appeal this decision.
“Those judges, they do not understand how the boxers are working hard. I guarantee we’re not going to let that go. We want to show there has to be justice,” Klimas
That did not go down well with Haney, who responded with some brutal words to the Ukrainian.
