Devin Haney Reacts To Ryan Garcia vs. Javier Fortuna Announcement
Devin Haney has given his take on the Ryan Garcia vs. Javier Fortuna announcement.
Haney is the WBC Lightweight Champion. He’s scheduled to put his gold up for grabs against Jorge Linares on May 29. Garcia and Fortuna will be fighting to determine the true number one contender on July 9. Garcia is the interim WBC titleholder, while Fortuna is the mandatory WBC Title contender.
Haney responded to the news and it’s clear that he isn’t impressed.
Let’s not forget Ryan is fighting another Title Eliminator, when he could’ve easily been fighting for the TITLE 🤦🏽♂️😂🦆🦆🦆🦆 https://t.co/p7E9e6Wwdg

While Garcia seemingly had the edge over Fortuna to fight Haney next, his interest in the fight was minimal. Instead, “KingRy” was gunning for bouts with Gervonta Davis and Manny Pacquiao. Both fights are out of reach, at least for the time being.
Garcia captured the interim gold back in January. He did so by knocking out Luke Campbell with a body shot. Garcia had come back in the fight after being knocked down for the first time in his career.
Haney handled business against Yuriorkis Gamboa in his last outing. Haney scored the unanimous decision victory. Many agree that Linares will serve as Haney’s toughest opposition.
